Tin Four, Rubber Duck!

 After much prodding and needling-
  "Much"?!?
 Well, some, then.
Savvy brought it up and Ms Scarlet may have mentioned it in passing - I'd hardly call that prodding and needling. Not even a modicum thereof!
Oh, OK! After a gentle enquiry and a passing mention, we have decided to hold another Tin Foil Hat Competition. (You're particularly mardy this evening.) Our fourth, in fact. So, what better theme than one of "Four".
Christ! That's lazy theme-thinking-of. And I'm not bloody mardy!
Really? Look, why don't you bugger off and decide what you're going to do for this month's Star Trek Art Challenge before it's too late? All that procrastinating has left you in a vile mood. I need to get on with this before we lose the audience.
  Fine!

Right. Now that the Host is otherwise occupied, let's get on with this shall we?

Welcome to...

The 2017 Tin Foil Hat Competition!

This year, as mentioned above, the theme is "four". How you interpret this into your hat is up to you. We are looking for a hat only (or four hats, if that's your interpretation and you can be arsed to make four, of course) - no other accoutrements or accessories are necessary - not after we were threatened by Hound:

However, you may, if you so desire, include lashings and lashings of - or, at least one - rubber duck/s. We shall leave this to your discretion though.
That could be a mistake.
Yeah, I think you're asking for trouble...

Oh, and feel free to decorate your tin foil chapeau with sophisticated soupçons of luxurious items that you may have just hanging around the manor: pearls, diamonds, hummingbird gallstones, swathes of the finest silk-
No! Not silk! We have also received threats from Dinahmow

Dinahmow?!?
Yes, Dinahmow. Encouraged by Ms Scarlet's airing of her dirty laundry in public, quite possibly...

The rules of the compo are (much like the last three compos) as follows:

To enter, you must fashion a tin foil hat (with or without rubber duck/s), take a photo of yourself wearing said chapeau (or, if you are camera-shy, put it on a melon or other head-sized object) and send me the photo (email address is in our profile) along with a short technical description of the hat's functions (and what, if any, purpose the rubber ducks serve - if you included any), and/or a tale of fancy to go with it.
The winner will be whomsoever garners the most votes from you, the voting proletariat masses select, and displayed on this here blog. There will also be a (yet to be determined, but you can guarantee it'll be cheap) prize, or prizes.
And "when do we have to get these photos sent in by?", I hear you ask? Why, no later than midnight (GMT) on Saturday 19th August - In FOUR weeks time (see what I did there?).

All the entries (unless they're crap, in which case they'll be flushed down the loo along with sad little rubber ducks that were unfortunate enough to be associated with them) will be displayed in a gallery here from Sunday 20th August for you to peruse and vote for your favourite. The winner will be announced on Saturday 26th August, to much trumpeting and fanfare, and possibly a chorus of quacks!

For the curious, and anyone new here, you can see the very first Tin Foil Hat Compo Gallery from 2010 here, 2014's here, and 2015's here.

You now have four whole weeks to fashion a tin foil treat of such luxurious and rubber duck-encrusted glory as to thwart Savvy's well prepared entry (she's already well into the R&D process), so you'd better snap to it!

    1. Oh, so that's what it means! Savvy's comment makes sense now - I might have known she wouldn't actually be working on a hat...

    2. *glaring at Princess* research and development!!! why would *I* need rehab and detox??? (wondering who divulged that tidbit?? I mean, just because I live in the South) xoxoxo

  2. Oh dear ! I hope for a tough competition. I looked at all those entries from the last events - and yeah ! - what a stiff comparison. Eros, Princess, MsScarlet, LẌ and Lola have won, excellent work - hard decisions, all entries were outstanding.

I hope that this year's contest will see a large array of entries. The given theme "Four" allows all attendees a wide space for imagination, and of course the "duck theme" is a nice touch, referring to the 2010 compo I think.

Whatever R&D may stand for, I hope Savannah, Dinahmow, and all other bloggers who were prevented for any reason, they all can take part in this great event now : There shall be hats !
    Tin Foil Hats !
    We need them.

Great from you to host this event again IDV !

    1. Yes, I'm hoping that the four week submission period will give everyone time to come up with something. And I'd quite forgotten my "rubber duck" comment to LẌ back in 2010 - I expect one of the SubCs remembered it, though.

  4. Hmmmmmmm, I will have to see about this. I usually use tin foil to fashion the houseboys hotpants and boy shorts.

    1. Well, I'm sure we can stand to see some of your Houseboys in hats.

      And nothing else!

    1. If you don't, then you should (but I think you do). It will become a Tin Hat Tradition. And if you Didn't Win Yet™, maybe you can loan your speech to LẌ?

    2. Unfortunately I put it down somewhere and it's so small I can't see it. Drat.
